Parker Heyl & Marc Van Dam
kinetic Design
Parker Heyl is a designer, roboticist, artist, and teaching fellow on the Design for Performance and Interaction MArch at The Bartlett School of Architecture in London. Mac Van Dam is a multi-disciplinary designer working in architecture, art, object design, and material science.
Vision
Parker Heyl is a kinetic artist, set designer, and mechanical engineer. His work questions digital technologies in contemporary music, art, and architectural practices; translating from the physical to the virtual.
He believes these translations are not lossless, that what is vanished is a sense of presence, or what Walter Benjamin defines as object aura. The physical object is slowly tranquilized and replaced with less potent simulacra of itself.
Connecting to beauty
Mac Van Dam is a multi-disciplinary designer working in architecture, art, object design, and material science. His work is rooted in a material-led design process and a desire to bring biological/living sensibilities to the everyday.
He works with artists, curators and independent clients to turn ideas into reality. He works at a range of scales, from sculpture to set-design to private homes.

Collection
Cosmobloom is an ethereal kinetic sculpture, which responds interactively to its audience. In harmonic motion it reflects light and colour while transitioning between states of closed and secure to open and vulnerable. It is constructed with layers of mirror polished stainless steel fastened to an array of exquisite mechanical linkages.
