Lukas Schilling

Mechanical Art

Lukas Schilling is a freelance artist and designer. He studied applied design and design studies in Schneeberg (Erzgeb.), Dublin and Halle.

Perception

The starting points of Lukas Schilling's pieces are often phenomena of altered states of consciousness, modifications of perception and the questioning of supposedly unambiguous sensory impressions.

Following the general question of the relationship between cognition and imagination, Schilling's sculptures and installations are not only objects of one-sided observation, but also involve the viewer through elements of interactivity and reflexivity.

Artist

Time and transience and their constitutive role in processes of perception and design are recurring themes in his work. In addition to his practical work, his design-theoretical research is dedicated to investigating the prerequisites and conditions of creative relationships with the environment.

Collection

The vastness of the sky conjures up dreams of distant worlds. Effortlessly and with lightness, the creatures of the air float and glide through space. Their appearance is elegant, sublime and free. The wonder of flight has always held a special fascination for humans. They themselves are only able to accomplish this feat with technical assistance. They are always only guests in the heavenly sphere. The grace and beauty of the movement of birds in their element remains beyond their reach.
