Optical Variation
Optical Variation
"Optical Variations" by Damien Bénéteau is a kinetic sculpture whose movement is based on the principle of light pendulums. A luminous ring integrated within a sphere swings in front of a mirrored parabola with a matte center. A luminous circle, resembling an iris, appears and disappears on this parabola, like an infinite breath, immersing the viewer in a meditation on time.
'Optical Variation' is a limited edition of 50 pieces with one artist's proof.

Damien Bénéteau
Trained in photography, Damien Bénéteau transposes the process of capturing light into sculpture. In his works the juxtaposition of objects, movement and light serves to produce two types of sculpture, molding the field of vision as well as his materials.
