Lee Yuen-Rapati
Lee Yuen-Rapati was born in Regina, Canada in 1992 and now resides in London, England. He grew up obsessed with drawing and creativity which led him to study design at university. In 2014 he began the One Hour Watch project after becoming interested in watches. This multi-year endeavour involved drawing an original watch in 60 minutes or less every day by hand. The series eventually reached 2869 consecutive drawings in 2022 before Lee switched to non daily updates.
He holds Mœbius, the artists featured in Stewart Cowley’s Terran Trade Authority Handbooks, and the countless unnamed draftspeople who practised technical drawing before him as inspirational figures. In parallel with his illustrations, Lee also began studying and practising type design with a specialisation in horological typography.
He has lectured about the history and creation of horological typography on the international stage.
Lee currently works in the watch industry, splitting his practice in between general watch design, custom typographic design, and hand-made illustrations.
